we can't wait any longer

Dear Utah,

You are beautiful. Probably one of the prettiest states in America. Your variety of natural landscapes are magical wonders and few places can compare to you. That's why it is hard to tell you that we will be moving.  It's not your fault (although, we could have done without years of nonstop I-15 road construction). As you have known, Matt and I have always thought of Utah as a pit stop for school and I'm sorry if we have toyed with you by lingering here after we graduated. You have been good to us and we feel we have made the most of our time here.
We have been anticipating where we will be next and what's worse than not knowing where we will move, is not knowing when we will move. So, we made the "grown-up" decision to move in with my parents in Dallas until we know where we will be for Matt's job. We leave the weekend after Thanksgiving. I am so excited even though I know once we hit the road, I will be missing my sister like crazy and begging Matt to take me back. If we need "the greatest snow on earth" or to attend a wedding. We will be back. We can't kid ourselves anymore, Utah. Let's just rip off the band-aid and let the healing process begin.

xoxo,
Matt and Loral

the origin of bu and pu

For Jaimi and anyone else:
I guess I should clear up why all of a sudden I am referring to Matt as Bu. Matt started it, close to 3 years ago.

I thought he got it from the Usher and Alicia Keys song, "My Boo". He claims he didn't get it from that song, has never heard of that song, and does not recognize it when I try to sing it. Must have been popular when he was on his mission.

The spelling came from Matt, as well, because "that is how it is spelled." I looked it up on urbandictionary.com and it can be spelled that way.

At first, we were both bu and then he started calling me pu, like "poo." I still sometimes smirk at it today, because I am immature and think of poo.

When I am really whiny, I say "BU BEEEEE".

I wouldn't put it on here before because I used to think it was too corny and thought "no one wants to read that". Then, I didn't care anymore.

happy 27th birthday, bu!

I love you, I love you, I love you!

Aren't you glad that the birthdays are over where you would have to hide in my apartment in fear of what your roommates would do to you?

i feel like a goldfish

The realization that I have the eyes of a 90-year-old woman really hits me when I get glasses. I haven't had glasses in 10+ years, but I needed more motivation to take out my contact lenses before bed and as a back-up in case my contacts fail me. The last pair of glasses I got, I didn't wear at all because they were so Coke Bottle thick.

We paid extra for the thinner lenses this time (Can you imagine if we didn't?!), but there is only so much a lense can shrink when your prescription is as bad as mine.

My peripheral vision is skewed where the lenses curve, so I can't exactly tell how close or how far objects are at my side and basically, I feel like I am looking out from the inside of a fishbowl.

I will never, ever drive with these. I already have a hard time walking in them!
Lasik is in my future and I am crossing my fingers our kids will get Matt's eyes.

all hallow's eve weekend

I was impressed by the amount of people dressed up as we ran errands this weekend. Halloween is awesome. We can't believe how big Matt's nieces and nephews are getting when we see them in pictures in their costumes. I can't get enough of it. It makes me so excited to dress up our future little ones. They are going to look ridiculous.

Lindsay went above and beyond for her murder mystery dinner. Just look at that food! We had never been to one before and it was unique and fun. Everyone looked amazing in their costumes. Matt's character name was Jules and I was Desiree.

For Halloween dinner, Rach brought bread bowls shaped and colored to look like pumpkins. I take forever cooking (no matter what I do I am just slow cutting, peeling, dicing, grating...), so Matt helped me with the butternut squash soup and it turned out delicious. Chipotle spice was key.
